Rebecca Lim Is Too Busy For Social Activities

Drink a lot of water, take beauty supplements and always apply sunscreen.

This is Singaporean actress Rebecca Lim's beauty advice to all young women.

The 28-year-old was at the launch of beauty brand SK-II's newest product, R.N.A. (Radical New Age) Power, at Changi Airport on July 15.

The local actress, who loves winter fashion, revealed at a press conference that she wears no make-up on her flights when she travels.

Her biggest skincare concerns are tired eyes, fine lines and dehydrated skin. How then does the 1.67m tall celebrity take good care of her skin?

"I always apply sunscreen, even if I'm going to walk my dog for just five minutes," she said.

Lim, who looked angelic in a sleeveless white dress at the event, was spotted with visibly clear and radiant skin. Her busy lifestyle and jet-setting schedule do not seem to take a toll on her too.

In an e-mail interview with AsiaOne, she said that she has "grown to be confident in (her) own skin" even though being an actress puts her "under more scrutiny".

So has her radiant complexion scored her a date?

"I have been so busy at work I hardly have time for any social activities. But I definitely feel comfortable enough in my skin and I hope my date feels comfortable in his as well," she said in the interview.

On what advice she gives to young women, the actress said that all women should be happy and happiness is "sadly underrated". She also advises them to settle any disputes before going to bed and not bear an overnight grudge.

"To be happy with your loved ones and treasure your time together is what I can say. For work, always work hard and constantly improve yourself. Never feel that you are too good for something. Always be prepared and always be punctual," she said.

As this is her first time filming such a daring scene, Grace revealed that she was initially quite worried about it.

Grace also said that she had talked to her parents and “reported” to her boyfriend, Kevin on the scene.

“I promise my mum and dad that it will be safe. I have also discussed with Kevin on the script, and he has helped me to look at it to see how I can play the role better. He was initially quite worried when he heard I had a skinny dip scene, but he trusts the producer.”

Edwin, who will be filming the scene with Grace said jokingly, “Will Kevin be mad at me? At the most, I swim further away from her!”

Weibo Flooded With Armpit Hair

Nowadays people do weird stuff and post it online hoping that their posts will get viral and they become famous overnight. Again this time it happens in China where young women raise up their arms to take selfies showing off their armpit hair, which they then post online to support women's rights and just maybe win a prize in one very unconventional photography competition.

The 2015 Armpit Hair Competition, which kicked off on Weibo on May 26 and ends on June 26 has attracted many enthusiastic participants. The hashtag #WomensArmpitHairCompetition has piqued the interest of more than a million curious netizens and has generated thousands of comments.

The idea of the contest was first mooted by 26-year-old feminist activist Xiao Yue who thinkgs that it could bring attention to the idea that women do not need to be hairless to feel beautiful. Prizes will be given out for the most "characteristic, beautiful and confident" displays of online armpit hair. The contest is quirky enough but what is more bizarre and unbelievable are the prizes given out for winners: first place winner receives 100 condoms, second place gets a vibrator and the lucky third place winner gets 10 female urination devices. How crazy can it be!

Xiao says. Xiao Yue strongly feels that women's underarm hair can be adorable, interesting, sexy and ever-changing. People shouldn't consider women's armpit hair to be offensive, rude and ungraceful.

According to Xiao, the concept of armpit hair being uncivilized is another unwelcome Western import that didn't catch on in China until the 1990s and now is being propagated by the media and advertisers in order to promote consumerism and shaving cream over natural beauty.

In exploring the root of this hairy issue, the Global Times asks the eternal question: "To shave or not to shave". One contestant, Charlie Liu, a 25-year-old environmental researcher in Beijing, submitted her black-and-white wearing just a bra and proudly showing of her armpit hair with the caption: "I love my armpit hair, which is a part of my soft body hair. I hope girls will show it off without fear."

Liu told the Global Times she used to shave her armpit hair in college but not anymore. She asserts that women's need to shave their body hair is a direct result of commercials and advertising. Not only she is maintaining her armpit hair, she is considering taking up a step further and dyeing her armpit hair.

People will definitely have mixed views on this issue as it won't take one contest to completely change people's perception. To shave or not to shave will remain a hot topic for many years to come.
