When it was released in
2003, 'Running on Karma' was a hit with starring actor Andy Lau (劉德華) and actress Cecilia Cheung (张柏芝). Finally, after 12 years later, fans of this film should celebrate that a sequel in 3D format is already planned. With an estimated $26
million USD budget, the movie is expected to be released next
year.

While Andy Lau (劉德華) is expected to return for the main role in the sequel, the
producers have decided to omit Cecilia Cheung (张柏芝) and replace her with Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan (高圓圓) instead. Johnnie To the producer
had allegedly disliked Cecilia for her unprofessional habits
exhibited when filming the original Running on Karma. It was believed that her lack of
punctuality and frequently calling in sick didn't go well with Johnnie To.
Apart from Yuanyuan (高圓圓), another new face to join the sequel is Charles Heung’s son Jacky Heung. Jacky will play Andy Lau’s disciple, and will some impressive martial arts moves in the movie.
